The gaming industry marked a whopping 43% rise in the sale of game consoles and game titles.  Although the year 2007 marked growth of the Nintendo Wii platform but XBox still dominated the gaming industry with its amazing gaming titles. The game titles which carried E and T ratings were mostly popular in 2007. Lets see which were the best top 5 games in the year 2007.

Alan Wake

Alan Wake features a multi-layered psychological thriller based story line. The game has very good realistic effects and I am pretty sure everyone getting this game would be quite fascinated by it. The game play really makes one get engaged and addicted to it with the game story being full of suspense and drama. The game's lead character Alan Wake is a horror story writer whose life struck with tragedy and he has to deal with all that comes then. I don't want to give you any spoilers but just to keep you guessing - Alice in Wonderland" I bet most people would love to play this game with its nicely crafted puzzles and intuitive game play.

Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed made its worldwide release in November 2007. The story takes you to the year 2012 where you play the character of Altaïr (Desmond's ancestor, Desmond being the character around whom the story line integrates). You land up in the year 1911 where you are supposed to map out your targets and perform assassinations as directed by Al Mualim (leader of the Assassins). The game play is very realistic with responsive environments where people or crowds react to your actions and may either be with you or against you. The game features awesome medieval weaponry, surrounding circumstances in the year 1911 and sweetly designed cities. The game won several awards including "Best Action/Adventure Game" and "Best of Show". Assassin's Creed was also nominated for several awards including "Game of the Year", "Most Original Game", "Best Sound Design", "Best Art Direction", "Best Game play Innovation" and "Best Animation".
    
BioShock

BioShock was released on August 21, 2007
BioShock gives the player the ability to biologically mod himself with weapons and plasmids to alter genetic augmentations that result into amazing abilities. The player also has the ability to hack devices and systems during the course of playing the game. The game environment features in deep ocean with stunning visual effects and in-game subject responses. A water programmer and water artist was hired just for the purpose of developing one of the modules of the game engine. Take Two Interactive officially announced that the sequel of this game is under development and is slated to release in 2009 holiday season.  A film revolving around the story of BioShock is also said to be made.  BioShock was highly acclaimed by many in the industry regarding it as one of the best game of all time with its stunning sound and graphic effects, game play and direction. It also received many awards including "Best XBox 360 Game", "PC Game of the Year", "Best Artistic Design", "Best Use of Sound", "Best Visual Art" and "Best Story".

Guitar Hero II

Guitar Hero IIis the second game in the Guitar Hero series and is the sequel for the former game Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero II was released in April 2007 with a few additions not available in the PS2 version. This games makes you experience the enchant and glamor of a rockstar. You could form a full rock band in career and co-op mode and rock on with more than 70 songs, most of which are real licensed popular songs. The game features three game play modes namely co-operative, face-off and pro face-off. Guitar Hero II had fairly positive reviews from the gaming industry with the game earning awards from the Official PlayStation Magazine and being the editor's choice from several publications such as GamePro and IGN. Some other awards that Guitar Hero II earned were "Game Critics Award for Best Puzzle/Trivia/Parlor Game", "Best Music Game", "Best Licensed Soundtrack", "Post Logistics PlayStation Game of the Year" and "4th best game of 2006". The next in the Guitar Hero sequel is named to be Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Halo 3

Halo3 has stunning statistics to show - more than 1 million people played the game within the first twenty hours of its availability, more than 8 million copies had been sold (as on Jan 2008) and was the best-selling video game of 2007 in the United States. Halo3 is a fascinating game with exciting first person action with the player abilities to perform vehicular combat, use an array of amazing new weapons and evolve as the game progresses. The Artificial Intelligence engine for the game is superb and delivers with perfection. I would recommend this game as a must buy to anyone who likes multiplayer FPS games.
